Wellbeing

Model Farms High School is a caring, inclusive and vibrant community. Our Wellbeing Team members provide support for students through a program of activities purposefully designed to strengthen individual student wellbeing and positive peer relationships. We encourage help-seeking, and actively work with students and their families to ensure our students thrive.

Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.

We do this through:

·       teachers who help students feel welcome and included

·       access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff

·       programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour

·       help for students who are new or changing year levels

·       clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships

·       staff who get to know each child and work closely with families

·       developing health care plans for students

·       open communication about wellbeing and support.

Wellbeing Activities

Year 7 Transition
Along with our Primary Links lessons in Year 6, we run a Peer Leader program comprised of Year 10 leaders with Year 7 peer support groups. All Year 7 classes also have timetabled lessons with their Year Adviser in their first year of high school.
WISE lessons 7-12
These age-appropriate lessons for 7-12 are built on our School Values of Responsibility, Respect, Resilience and Results.
School clubs

We have a variety of lunch-time social groups which foster social connection amongst students and staff.

School Clubs

Wellbeing programs
These include My Strengths, Sleep Connection and Anti-Bullying programs amongst many others suited to student need. There are camps for Years 7, 9 and 11 which provide an opportunity for students to participate in activities aimed at creating new friendships, while developing teamwork and leadership skills.
